Hits on Hit, Majestic and RCA '44-54 with ballads including no. 14 1944 with 'Twilight Time' (co-written by the trio with manager Buck Ram), later on RCA and eventually sold a million; also no. 1 '47 for four weeks with 'Peg O' My Heart' (the Harmonicats' version had revived the song, from 1913, and was the bigger hit). Al Nevins was replaced in the 1950s by Johnny Buck, then Joe Negri; Dunn re-formed in 1957 with Johnny Romano (guitar) and Tony Lovello (accordion); Al Nevins formed Aldon Music with Don Kirschner and cleaned up in the Brill Building era. |
