(b 25 Dec. '05, Portsmouth VA; d 6 May '67, Atlanta GA) Flute and reeds. Worked for Elmer Snowden, Benny Carter, Spike Hughes '33, Chick Webb and Ella Fitzgerald '34-40. Early and very fine soloist on flute (e.g. "Sweet Sue, Just You', cut with both Hughes and Webb). Taught music at Clark College, Atlanta; dir. school bands and played local dates on clarinet. Pupil George Adams called him "a guide to taste and style.'
