(b 6 September 1963, Beaumont TX) Honky-tonk singer known as 'The Human Jukebox', said to know the words to over 1,000 country songs. Son of regional Texas star Bob Chesnutt, he played the bar circuit with his father's band, first recorded for indie Axbar label mid-'80s, landed a deal with MCA '89. First four albums all went gold with chart-topping singles 'Brother Jukebox' '90, 'I'll Think Of Something' '92, 'It Sure Is Monday' '93. Taken under George Jones's wing, playing 300 dates a year, soon firmly established as one of biggest country names of '90s. Switched to reactivated Decca label '94. Albums included Too Cold At Home '90, Longnecks And Short Stories '91, Almost Goodbye '93, What A Way To Live '94.
