(b Lynn Rene Anderson, 26 September 1947, Grand Forks ND; d 30 July 2015, Nashville TN) Country-pop singer, daughter of Liz Anderson. Worked as secretary, signed to the Chart label in Nashville '66, hit with 'Ride, Ride, Ride' that year (written by Liz); 'If I Kiss You', 'Promises, Promises' '67; 'No Other Time' '68; 'That's A No-No' '69.

She married producer/ writer Glenn Sutton '68; signed with Columbia '70; single 'Stay There Till I Get There' was in the country top 10 as she appeared at the second Wembley Country Festival in London. Her recording of the Joe South song '(I Never Promised You A) Rose Garden' '71 crossed over to no. 3 on the pop chart, won a gold disc and a Grammy for best female vocal; then further country hits: 'You're My Man', 'How Can I Unlove You' '71; 'Listen To A Country Song' '72; 'Keep Me In Mind', 'Top Of The World' '73; 'What A Man, My Man Is' '74; 'I've Never Loved Anyone More' '75; 'Wrap Your Love All Around Your Man' '77; 'Isn't It Always Love' '79. She was divorced mid-'70s, remarried, and retired to concentrate on riding horses; came back with a top ten duet with Gary Morris 'You're Welcome To Tonight' '84 on Permian, minor hits on Mercury '86-9.
