R&B vocal group: Williams, Richard Parker, Donald Peak, Joe Penn, Rolland Bradley had classic early rock'n'roll hit 'Hearts Of Stone' '54 (no. 1 R&B, no. 15 pop), covered by the Fontane Sisters on Dot, Red Foley on Decca; several other hits as the Charms; as Otis Williams and the Charms scored big again with ballad 'Ivory Tower' '56 (top ten R&B, no. 11 pop), taken to no. 2 by Cathy Carr (b 28 June '36, the Bronx, NYC). Still favourite period stuff.
