Youssou N'Dour); joint winner of La Coupe D'Or with Ousegnou Gueye in Dakar '72. He plays American steel-strung guitar in an African style infl. by Pape Djaan as well as local players of the khallam (lute/banjo); notable appearances in duo with Baaba Maal (he was the first Peul to experiment with electric guitar); they were both in band Dende Lenol (voice of the people). Mansour suffers a form of hereditary blindness, which does not prevent him from touring in West Africa as well as Europe, especially Paris.
