SEALS, Son

(b Frank Seals, 13 Aug. '42, Osceola AR; d 20 Dec. 2004 of complications of diabetes) Blues singer, guitarist; also played drums. His father was Jim 'Son' Seals, who played with the Rabbit Foot Minstrels, owned a club in Osceola and from '53 taught Frank, who sat in at the club with touring bluesmen, worked with Earl Hooker in Little Rock, toured with Albert King, settled in Chicago '71, recorded for Alligator, played many clubs, festivals, toured Europe (with B. B. King '77 in London). Albums included The Son Seals Blues Band '73, Midnight Son '76, Live And Burning '78, Chicago Fire '80, Bad Axe '84, Living In The Danger Zone '91, Nothing But The Truth '94, Live -- Spontaneous Combustion '96.
