(b Bette Lou Miller, 9 April '42, Dayton OH) Teacher turned country singer who wrote most of her own material. Demo brought record deal on Chart label in Nashville but nothing happened; switched to 20th Century '75, hits incl. top 5 with first single "There, I Said It'. To WB for big hits incl. "Don't Break The Heart That Loves You' and "It Only Hurts For A Little While' at no. 1, no. 2 "Little Things Mean A Lot' '78, three consecutive top 10 hits '79; she also sang duets with prod. Norro Wilson on WB; lesser hits on Moonshine, Bermuda Dunes labels '83-5 incl. "Every Day People', duet with Tom Grant. She called her band Love's Explosion. LPs on WB; then Margo Smith '86 on Dot was followed by self-prod. The Best Of The Tennessee Yodeler, tribute to Bonnie Lou; she recorded for her own labels late '80s, formed Christian duo with daughter Holly and recorded for Homeland.
