Texas rock'n'roll group with hits in 1965-7, led by Sam the Sham (Domingo Samudio, b 1940, Dallas), with Ray Stinnet, guitar; David Martin, bass; Jerry Patterson, drums. They recorded in Memphis in the early '60s; they covered the novelty 'Haunted House', then 'Wooly Bully' on Pen was their first and biggest hit (no. 1 USA, leased to MGM); they also scored with 'Ju Ju Hand', 'Lil Red Riding Hood', 'The Hair On My Chinny Chin Chin.'
