RESTLESS HEART

Rock-influenced country band put together by producer/songwriter Tim DuBois. Studio musicians Larry Stewart (lead vocals), John Dittrich (drums), Paul Gregg (bass), Greg Jennings (guitar) and Dave Innis (keyboards) signed to RCA and hit gold with six country no. ones and another nine top tens '85--92. Best work was with Eagle-ish 'Bluest Eyes In Texas', the big-sounding 'Fast Movin' Train' and catchy 'Wheels'. Some critics dismissed them as fabricated, but their lush five-part vocal harmonies won the fans. Gold albums incl. Wheels '88, Big Dreams In A Small Town '90, Fast Movin' Train '91. Received Grammy and CMA nominations but were overshadowed by labelmates Alabama. Stewart left to pursue solo career, had country hits for RCA and Columbia '93--6; albums Down The Road '93, Heart Like A Hurricane '94, Why Can't You '96. Innis departed '93; group continued as a trio with additional musicians, crossed over to pop with 'When She Cries' and platinum Big Iron Horses '93, but excellent Matters Of The Heart '94 was overlooked: they called it a day '95. Dittrich formed Buffalo Club with Ron Hemby (ex-Imperials) and Charlie Kelley; album on Rising Tide '97.
