(b 24 March '62, Regina, Canada) Piano, composer. Studied piano from three, violin from six, but turned to jazz in teens, playing in Toronto and Vancouver. Moved to New York '85, joined Joe Henderson '87, OTB same year. Recorded with Jon Faddis, Sonny Fortune and Gary Thomas, toured with J. J. Johnson, Wayne Shorter. Signed to Blue Note; debut Renee Rosnes '88 incl. Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and others, followed by For The Moment '90; Without Words '92 had a string orchestra; further albums were Ancestors '96 and As We Are Now '97. She combines classical technique with strong swing.
