BOB B SOXX and the BLUE JEANS

US vocal group. Lineup: Bobby Sheen (b '43, St Louis MO), Graycha Nitzsche (wife of Jack Nitzsche), Darlene Love and Fanita James. Last two with Jean King were legendary session trio the Blossoms. Collection of black session singers brought together by prod. Phil Spector, initially to be called Bobby and the Holidays. Debut top ten hit '62 with 'Zip-A-Dee-Doo- Dah', unusual treatment with unique guitar sound and Darlene Love lead vocal of Oscar-winning song from '47 Disney film Song Of The South (not revived until mid-'80s because the treatment of Joel Chandler Harris's Uncle Remus was later regarded as racist, but Brer Rabbit cartoons were brilliant). Lesser hits 'Why Do Lovers Break Each Other's Heart?', 'Not Too Young To Get Married' followed, both '63. They also recorded as the Crystals and under Love's name. Sheen recorded solo before and after; later toured with the Coasters.
