MORGAN, Jane

(b Jane Currier, Boston MA) Studied at Julliard as lyric soprano, though her voice didn't sound that high on records. She sang in clubs, was offered a contract in France, became a hit and was later billed as "the American girl from France'. Hits on Kapp '56-9 incl. "Two Different Worlds' (duet with pianist Roger Williams), million- seller "Fascination' (adapted from "Valse Tzigane', '04). She successfully shovelled tunes against the rock'n'roll tide; one suspects that disc jockeys liked her, because "The Day The Rains Came' got a lot of airplay in the USA and almost made the top 20 (it was a big no. 1 in UK).
