MANDRELL, Louise

(b 13 July '54, Corpus Christi TX) Country singer who usually performed in duet with husband R.C. Bannon. Began playing guitar, banjo and fiddle as a child and played bass in sister's band '71 (see Barbara Mandrell, above). A regular on Stu Phillips TV show '73-4; joined Merle Haggard as background vocalist and featured singer '76-7; signed to Epic '78 and scored hits with "Put It On Me' '78, "Everlasting Love' '79; "Reunited' (duet with Bannon) made top 10 '79. Switched to RCA '81, had further hits '81- 4 with "You Sure Know Your Way Around My Heart', "Some Of My Best Friends Are Old Songs', "Runaway Heart', "Save Me' and "I'm Not Through Loving You Yet'. She was a regular on sister's TV show '81-2. RCA Albums incl. Close-Up '82, Too Hot To Sleep '83, Maybe My Baby '85. A regular on TV soap Another World; appeared in Crazy Like A Fox etc and had her own show Love My Country; wrote children's books and autobiographical The Mandrell Family Album.
