Of Anglo-Irish background, he blended Faron Young/ Mel Tillis sounds with his own, featuring steel guitarist Barry Smith (with him since '68), fiddle, keyboards and guitar. Hits incl. "Heaven Is My Woman's Love', "Me And My Guitar', "Woman In The Back Of My Mind'. Own TV series Ponderosa Country '79-80 on BBC South; appeared regularly on Pebble Mill At One, Crackerjack, BBC radio.
