FLORES, Rosie

(b San Antonio TX) A modern rockabilly and rootsy country singer. She grew up in San Diego CA, worked in an all-girl psychedelic group Penelope's Children, a punk band the Screamers, and an all-girl band the Screamin' Sirens; and finally became part of the West Coast alternative country scene and was included on A Town South Of Bakersfield, a compilation album of new country artists (she sang 'Heartbreak Train') '85, leading to a contract with Reprise and an excellent eponymous debut album with minor country hit singles '87-8. She toured regularly, especially to Europe, but was dropped by Reprise; she reappeared on Hightone with After The Farm '92 and teamed up with Wanda Jackson '95 for rockabilly shows.
