Australian pop group formed '76. Lineup: Russell Hitchcock (vocals; b 15 June '49, Melbourne), Graham Russell (guitar, vocals; b 1 June '50, Nottingham, England), Frank Esler-Smith (keyboards; b 5 June '48, London; d 1 March '91, Melbourne), David Moyse (lead guitar; b 5 Nov. '57, Adelaide), David Green (bass; b 30 Oct. '49, Melbourne), Ralph Cooper (drums; b 6 April '51, Coffs Harbour, Australia). Hitchcock and Russell met in Aust. production of Jesus Christ Superstar; mus. dir. Esler-Smith helped them make demos. Debut single 'Love And Other Bruises' went high in Aust. chart; group then went to USA as support for Rod Stewart tour. In '80 Rex Goh (guitar; b 5 May '51, Singapore) had joined and Russell provided a vein of hit songs: 'The One That You Love' no. 1 '81 USA; seven other top ten hits '80-- 83; after Love And Other Bruises chart albums in USA showed remarkable AOR consistency: Lost In Love, The One That You Love (top ten album), Now And Forever, Greatest Hits (top ten), Air Supply, Hearts In Motion '86.
