DICKIE DOO & THE DON'TS

Philadelphia novelty vocal group: Dicky Doo (b Gerry Granahan, 17 June 1939) leader, tenor; Jerry Grant, lead voice; Harvey Davis, baritone; Al Ways, bass; Ray Gangi, tenor. Dick Clark helped them get a contract with the Swan label; top 40 hits '58: 'Click Clack' written by Granahan and Grant, 'Nee Nee Na Na Na Na Nu Nu' inspired by Jonathan Winters comedy routine baby talk, later revived by Bad Manners; three other minor hits '58-9. Granahan had the biggest hit (no. 23) under his own name: 'No Chemise Please' '58 on Sunbeam.
